NJCL Online Exams

The 2021-2022 academic year is the eleventh year in which the National Junior Classical League is sponsoring exams to be administered online:  The National Classical Etymology Exam (NCEE), The National Roman Civilization Exam (NRCE), and the National Latin Vocabulary Exam (NLVE).  In the Spring of 2022, we will offer the first National Hellenic Civilization Exam (NHCE). Please see below for a description of each exam. 

Registration and testing dates are as follows:
Fall Exams: National Classical Etymology Exam (NCEE) AND National Roman Civilization Exam (NRCE):
Registration window: Wed. Sept. 1-Wed. Oct. 27
Administration window: Mon. Nov. 1-Fri. Dec. 10
 
Spring Exams: National Latin Vocabulary Exam (NLVE) 
Registration Window: Mon. Nov. 1-Wed. Jan. 26
Administration Window: Mon. Jan. 31- Fri. March 4
 
National Hellenic Civilization Exam (NHCE): 
UPDATED: Exam Registration February 24 - February 28
Exam Administration: March 1 - March 18 - Add your name to this google form to receive direct email contact when the registration window is open. 
 
N.B. Registrants will receive 3 separate emails about their registration: 1) a registration confirmation from njcl@quia.com after registration, then immediately before the administration window, 2) an email with "Usernames and Passwords" as the subject line from Quia.com, and 3) an email with "Secret Word" as the subject line from Quia.com

 

NCEE

The National Classical Etymology Exam (NCEE) will be administered in the fall session. The fee is $5.00 per student and a $15.00 school registration fee ($25.00 non-U.S.). There is a $15.00 discount for NJCL Chapters.

NRCE

The National Roman Civilization Exam (NRCE) will be administered in the fall session for the first time, Fall 2021. The fee is $5.00 per student and a $15.00 school registration fee ($25.00 non-U.S.). There's a $15.00 discount for NJCL Chapters. 

*Due to shifting the NRCE from the Spring session to the Fall, this leveled exam's difficulty will be adjusted accordingly.

NLVE

The National Latin Vocabulary Exam (NLVE) will be administered in the Spring session. The fee is $5.00 per student and a $15.00 school registration fee ($25.00 non-U.S.). There's a $15.00 discount for NJCL Chapters.
